Hi friends,
This is a long overdue Hello! Thanks so much for joining us as we chase our little dream building our flower farm in southern Arizona. We are 45 min east of Tucson and 11 miles north of infamous Tombstone Arizona.
I thought a little intro might be in order.
We are Wayne and Chea Lamb. We both grew up in the in Chandler Arizona when it was a small cow town. Growing up we were surrounded by fields of cotton and alfalfa. Like a lot of people our age, our grandparents were farmers but we were “in town kids”. We have 4 beautiful girls and 4 son in laws with 7 grandchildren between them. We are obsessed with them!
You can find me digging in the dirt, cutting flowers or playing with our 7 grandkids when Im not working at a local hospital. Wayne loves his Blue Ford tractor and playing with the grandkids too. If he’s not on the farm he is working on his golf game or running our small business in Phoenix.
Our why is the chance to grow something beautiful, something tangible and fulfilling in our ever increasing URL world. We wanted a IRL (In real life) experience to share.
With all the shortages and supply chain issues during c0v!d we found ourselves motivated to find a place with a little water and a hospitable growing environment. As you know the desert isn’t known for water. When the opportunity presented itself to buy our farm with a well and an elevation that fosters cool nights and abundant sunshine we jumped on it. Our temps in summers range from 60-100 degrees. We often see afternoon rains in the summer.
This new to us growing environment isn’t with out its challenges
The winter can get really cold for this desert rat. 17 degrees in not the best for some of our plant starts. Other challenges include the deer and javelina that reside in the San Pedro Riparian Conservation Area(500 yards from the farm) and the spring winds. But we wouldn’t trade it. There is something magical about the area with its abundant wildlife and rural charms.
We can’t wait to share all the flowers and charms of the farm and a few challenges along the way.
Thanks again for following along.
