Late bloomers

Ok  so some of you wanted to know how the story ends!

Well we replanted the sunflowers Aug 19 and watched them grow was like watching water boil.  Every time we inspected the field  We were joyful that they had survived .    But also every day they were still growing,  it was a day closer to the inevitable frost.

As mother nature would have it    WE MADE IT.   It was glorious!  The field of sunshine was even better than I imagined.    I must admit it was a bittersweet to see them go.  The blooms lasted about 2 weeks and just like that like they all bloomed at once they also all went to seed at the same time.

In late October as I left the farm late in the evening to head back to our home 2 hours away knew it was to be the last time I would see the glory of the field.   I spied a late blooming sunflower just beginning to lift its petals to bloom among all the blooms starting to look a little spent (their time was coming to an end).  The late bloomer.  Like her we would be considered late bloomers starting a u pick flower farm in our 50s.   That little late blooming sunflower was just the thing our hearts needed and has become a defining moment for us.  A little message. That you got this.
